The Story Wines is oddly located in a drab, southern suburb of Melbourne, Australia. There we receive grapes from some fabulous Grampians and Henty vineyards, and turn them into wine. Each vintage there is a new story to tell, and each year our label changes to reflect that story. Small budgets, small vineyards, engaging subjects.

2012 Intro Rose Grenache Mourvedre Rose

Cellar Door

This year our rosé has been inspired more by the wines of southern France, Bandol and the languedoc where Mourvedre and Grenache are the mainstays. We got our hands on some Geelong Grenache and some Heathcote Mourvedre and pressed it to very old oak for natural fermentation. Once dry we simply sulphured the wine and let it sit and clarify over 4 months, and gain complexity and luscious texture from lees contact. It’s a very soft, pale, pretty, low acid, dry rose, which is best served cold on a warm day in the sun.

– Vine Age: approx 15 years
– 13.5% alc.pH 3.52
– Total Acidity 5.6g/l
– 130 dozen produced
